COVID-19: Safety tips, Symptomatic treatment using GrandMa recipe

We all have come through very tough year 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has impacted whole world in terms of everything like economy, life style, employments, mental health etc. Sir Francis Bacon has said that Knowledge is PowerObjective of this blog is to spread awareness about COVID infection in public. If we know more about COVID, we will be more confident in protecting ourselves and our loved onesAs a pharmacist, I am sharing few health tips so that we can fight COVID bravely and lead a healthy life.

What is COVID-19? 

It is a viral infection caused by novel Corona virus strain.

Mode of transmission: 
- Air droplets mainly when an infected person sneeze or coughs.
- By touching the surfaces contaminated with corona virus followed by touching your nose, eyes and mouth.

Early symptoms:
-Fever, dry cough, tiredness,

Warning signs which requires immediate hospitalization:

-Trouble breathing
-Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
-New confusion
-Inability to wake or stay awake
-Bluish lips or face
 
Protective measures:
-Wash your hands specially when you are going to touch your face
-Wash your hands before having meal
-Avoid visiting crowded places
-Always wear mask while talking to a stranger in public place
-If someone is suffering from cold or flu, maintain social distancing
-Use good quality of hand sanitizers (I will talk in more details in my next blog on how to choose good hand sanitizers) 

Primary treatment plan using home remedy (Grand ma recipe): 

It is always advisable to consult with a physician or pharmacist as soon as possible. However, I would like to share few useful home remedy which will help you recover faster along with the medication.
 
-Add a pinch of cooking salt into warm water, stir well and gargle 4-5 times a day.
-Eat boiled eggs with black pepper and salt
-Add ginger + clove + cinnamon while preparing tea (do not add milk)
-Take steam or Vicks inhaler in case your nose is chocked
- Take plain paracetamol to reduce the body temperature
- Take hot tomato or chicken soups added with garlic and black pepper (2 times in a day)
- If the problem persists visit a doctor or pharmacist
